February, often seen as the month of love, lets us get swept up in romance, flowers, and chocolates. While there is nothing wrong with making time for sweep you off your feet moments, it is important not to forget to love yourself!
When you are pregnant or become a mom, we know how easy it is to forget to take care of yourself. You have so many things to plan. A nursery to create. Doctors appointments to schedule and get to on time. So it is important to remember that loving yourself and taking steps to ensure you have self-care in your routine is very important.
Here are some of the ways we suggest our clients try to incorporate self-care into their routines to hopefully reduce stress, feel fulfilled, and enjoy all pregnancy has to throw at you
This could be as simple as putting on your makeup and actually blow drying your hair. You could paint your nails (and your toes if you can still reach them), get a massage, or take a long bath with a good book. Your body has never felt this big or looked so different and taking steps to pamper yourself will make you feel more like yourself and lighten your mood.
Get Up and Move
Since your energy level may have plummeted, or you just can't get around like you're used to, neglecting exercise is easy to do. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to complete a whole workout routine. Simply take a nice walk, do a restful and restorative yoga routine, or in the spirit of love - slow dance with your partner. Movement is your friend in pregnancy and it is a great way to practice self-care.
Be Present and Mindful
With all the items on your to do list, its easy to get caught up in the hustle. Set some boundaries for yourself with social media. Turn your phone off in the evenings and enjoy some good music. Write a letter to your baby or practice a meditation. Find something that relaxes your mind and gives you peace amidst the chaos.
