The past week has been world doula week and we have welcomed it with NEST groups and births and all the fun that is being a doula. We wanted to share why we think this work is the best work in celebration so see why we love it as a a team and as individuals below:). Happy World Doula Week!
As a team we love it because...
...we swear we have the best clients and hands down the best dads.
...we get to witness women become mothers and men become fathers
...it is a profession that allows us to empower women.
...we get to be a part of a community of women that support other women.
...we get to be one part teacher, one part coach and one part friend.
...we get to see moms be incredibly strong on a regular basis and it is inspiring.
Why we love being doulas as individuals!
Alison/Birth Doula and Childbirth Educator
One of the things I love about being a doula is being able to give informed, educated advice to anyone who asks for it! Knowing that I am helping them be prepared is a great feeling! Childbirth classes are one of my favorite ways to do this. They say doulas are like have a childbirth book in your back pocket and I love knowing that I can help them before and during birth.
One of my favorite moments of being a doula was being able to be a part of the birth of my niece, and being able to support my best friend during the birth of her daughter. They are experiences that are personal and will stick with me.

I love being a doula because transitioning into motherhood is something that has a huge impact on a woman's life. I can help educate them, support them emotionally through pregnancy and delivery and physically help them through childbirth and breastfeeding. It is a perfect combo of ways I believe women should be better supported.
One of my favorite moments of being a doula was helping support a mom through a cesarean for the birth of her long awaited her rainbow baby.
I love being a postpartum doula because I love being able to connect clients with resources they didn’t know existed. Seeing the relief on their face knowing there is help and hope on the horizon makes a huge win all around. I also love letting parents know they are not alone in this journey. Whether it’s the long nights with no sleep, a traumatic birth or postpartum, or just feeling overwhelmed - holding that space for them to not be perfect and know that everyone struggles in their parenting and there is no one rule book or one size fits all when it comes to each persons experience
My favorite moments are watching a family be born. Whether it’s a first baby or fifth, each time the family unit changes and they begin to blossom into their new normal.
I love being a doula because it means sharing a moment with a mom and family that truly matters to the rest of their lives. They are never going to forget when their baby is born and I won't either. Each birth is unique and growing a relationship with a mom through pregnancy and delivery is so special.
One of my favorite moments was getting to cut the cord for a sweet boy and his family. It was a total honor and privilege to be included in such a way.
