School has been out for several weeks already, and we KNOW keeping those crazy nuggets entertained for more than 5 minutes seems impossible some days! Luckily, we live in a community that is overflowing with kid friendly places to visit, learn, and experience.
Here are a few of our favorite local places to visit over the summer. The best part is they all cost little to nothing! So get up and get out of the house and make some fun summertime memories!
South Mountain Creamery
Summer means ICE CREAM and South Mountain Creamery is one of the best places to indulge! This family owned farm offers several fresh and all-natural products along with daily free activities! Watch the cows being milked, bottle feed the calves, play on the play-set and of course enjoy your treat!
SummerFest Family Theatre
The SummerFest Family Theatre has already begun their lineup of performances! Don't miss out on some of the best children's performers from around the region. Come out to Baker Park on Thursdays for singing, dancing, puppets and more. A free concert that will have your kids wiggling out some energy and having so much fun while they're at it.
The Original Playhouse
Welcome to The Original Playhouse, the home of imagination and fun for the summer! Come to the playhouse to be creative, use your imagination, and explore new ideas. The budding artist, the scientist, and the actress will all find something for them. There is interactive and pretend play areas, as well as an outdoor garden for trucks and fairies and more! Engage with your kids away from home and away from television while they get those little brains working.
While an O's game may be too much for the whole family, The Frederick Keys is a great and fun alternative. Watch some baseball in a fun, family-friendly environment right in the city of Frederick's backyard. You can check out all the various promotions offered throughout the season like superhero day, or prince & princess day. Kids eat free on Mondays, and there are tons of fireworks sprinkled throughout the summer!
